NY Fashion Week FW16 part II

Hi dear readers 🙂

Ready for the second part of my NYFW favorites ? Let’s go !

Adam Lippes

This collection shows two facets I really appreciate. Firstly something very clean, with long white dresses. The cut is very simple, columnal and the fabric looks soft and chic. I’ve put the picture displaying the red items : the cut is similar but the suede and the shade make them bolder, sophisticated and definitely “trendy”. The grey checked outfits stay on that minimal take, that is to say a large top paired with wide-leg trousers, and not too many details.

I cannot say I knew a lot about Adam Lippes, but I learnt the man has a passion for architecture and décor. We can see that through the luxurious fabrics he has worked with for some pieces. I am immediately thinking about the culottes. The colorful print looks like it had been taken from a wallpaper, representing an imaginary jungle. I love the concept of borrowing interior designs ideas and turning them into clothes. The two black gowns are amazing too, they share the best qualities an evening dress can have : the sheer fabric reveals some skin, and sparkles bring light with embroidered golden vegetals. There is necessarily a piece we’d love to get in our wardrobe here 😉 !

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham is the queen of classy workwear to me. For FW16, she proposes tight-fitting dresses, below the knee. The fabrics are rather heavy, like knitwear and tweed with ribbons on the edge, so they are perfect for the season.  She designed many corsets : they have a very pretty heart -shape and highlight the neck and shoulders. I am fan of the very first look. The details are cool and the middle part of the outfit is original. The dresses on the eighth and last images have more volume in the bottom, I love them. Other looks feign the bustier with a color-block dress. Cover yourself with an oversize coat and slip into pointed loafers to complete the VB look.

Like she did in her last show, she picked stripes and checked patterns to galvanize her collection, for a very graphic result. She mixed a checked shirt with a orange and black striped skirt : the vertical stripes elongate the silhouette so the whole look is working. Navy blue always works as you can see on the first pictures, but she used other colors perfect for the season. I find the khaki shade very nice, and I love the brown and burgundy pairing. These are classy combinations we should try as soon as possible.
